Improving Your Site’s Place in Search Results

Delicious

The growth of the Internet has been rapid, quickly changing the way we communicate, look up information, and exchange services and money. With a myriad of websites out there for an individual to explore in search of his needs or wants, how do you go about standing out in the crowd and attracting the attention you need? Even more importantly: are there ways to do it that won’t bankrupt you?

It may surprise you to hear this, but there are very affordable ways to do so. With a few adjustments to your writing and website planning, you could easily be at the top of everyone’s search list without spending any money at all. How?

Before we get to that, though, we’d like you to be aware that there are services out there that will freely give you advice targeted to your needs. While the information below can be used by anyone for anything, it’s just a general outline of ideas. For something more targeted, we suggest looking for what are called ?SEO Services.? These can also provide you with more than just tips, too.

The best thing you can do is select specific keywords that apply to your business, and use this keywords as often as naturally possible. Overusing these words isn’t a great idea, since Google and other search engines react negatively to it, causing your pages to drop in rank. It’s a good idea to focus on keywords that most people would use when looking for the type of service you offer. If your site is offering services for tourists in France, it would be great to use the words ?tourist? and ?France,? but you could also talk a lot about some of the attractions themselves, such as the Eiffel Tower or the Lourve.

It’s important for those keywords to be in the titles of your pages as well. To use the above example, your home page should have ?tourist,? ?guide,? and ?France? or ?French? in the title, with other pages dedicated to specific attractions and cities having their targeted keywords in the title. Part of this is actually just using common sense, but if you really take the time to craft your titles with the mindset of improving your page rank, it can make all the difference in the world.

Attracting inbound links from other websites is also a great way to boost your search engine rank. Depending on the nature of your site, you can affiliate yourself with sites that offer similar content (essentially, you link to each other for mutual gain), have you site listed on a directory (some directories charge for this, but there are those that are free), or try to generate buzz through word of mouth and have blog posts link to your site. This works very well if a large number of these links use keywords you’ve already targeted and used on your site.

As your becomes more well known and visited, your site’s rank will naturally rise as more people talk about and link to your website. Making use of these techniques will make the journey easier, and get your website to the top of search results sooner.
