The Internet has spawned thousands of possible ways of earning money. Aside from auction, bidding, online sales, affiliate marketing, and advertising, the Internet has provided a goldmine, or a business highway, in the form of Pay Per Click Marketing.

Also known as PPC, pay per click is something to the effect of an Internet advertising tool or approach. This is a model that is used in the Internet with other recently popularized tools and approaches such as Search Engine Optimization or SEO, blogs, Google Adword, and Search Engine Optimization networks.

PPC has become commonly used in promoting businesses online and it has become popular among websites and among online businesses. In offline advertising, it may involve the use of billboards, printing in newspapers, airing advertisements over the television or using flyers and pamphlets. Companies and businesses pay these advertisers for displaying their ads or their logos or for promoting their business on television or radio.

In the internet, advertising is usually done in websites where website owners allocate a space for ads, logos and links of those who want to advertise. In the physical world, advertising is done and cost is determined by the number of minutes an ad is aired on television or radio or the space used in a newspaper or the size of the billboard.

Over the internet, the impact of advertising is difficult to measure. Businesses will find it hard to know the number of people who will see the advertisement. There may be ways to find out how many visitors a website has but the number of people who have actually seen the ad will be difficult to check.

To get away with spending too much cost in advertising through the internet, it was determined that companies or businesses should only pay for advertising when the ad was clicked. This was the start of the pay per click advertising.

Whenever the advertisement link is clicked, there is corresponding money that will be paid to the website owner. The trouble is the owner can click the advertisement a thousand times, right?

PPC marketing was also designed to prevent fraud. Codes are generated from websites so that the companies and businesses can determine if the clicks on the ad are unique and are not clicks from the website owner himself. This also makes PPC marketing an effective advertising tool as businesses will know that their ad was actually read and visited.
