My list is Da Bomb Baby!

Everybody else has their list of “the best” plugins for Wordpress, the 10 best, the 17 best, the 30 best.  Today, I present to you MY list, and my list is Da Bomb Baby! (laughter and applause at my attempt to be hip???) Now I want to preface this by saying that I am a relative newbie compared to the big boys out there and that this is the audience my advice is aimed at.  If you know everything (or think you do), this list might be too spartan for you.  If you have recently started and only have Akisment and Hello Dolly in your Wordpress Plugins list - THIS LIST IS DEFINITELY FOR YOU!  I wasn’t really shouting - just trying to get your attention.  So without further adieu, the list:

1. Add to Any: Share/Save/Bookmark Button - This is a nice social book-marking add-in that you can use.  It provides a button at the bottom of your posts for people to Digg or Sphinn you, or follow you in Twitter, Facebook - the list is incredibly long and is shown via drop-down menu. 2. All in One SEO Pack - An out-of-the-box SEO for your Wordpress blog that is probably the most popular out there.  Basically it is going to help you promote your blog (gotta tweak your settings though).  Download All in One SEO Pack
   

 

3. Comment Relish - Straight off the plugin description: “Increases your readership and RSS subscription rate by simply sending a short ‘thank you’ relishing type message to users when they first comment on your weblog.” Download Comment Relish

 

4. Contact Form 7 - A nice and simple contact form for beginners. Download Contact Form 7

 

5. Dofollow - Allows for the do-follow tag - basically making it more appealing for people to post on your blog as it links back to theirs.  But what about all the spam?  That is why you already have Akismet baby.  Download Dofollow

 

6. FeedBurner FeedSmith - Direct from the plugin description: “Originally authored by Steve Smith, this plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber.”  Let me tell you that it is so irritating to “subscribe” to a feed by people who obviously know what they are doing only to see the simple feed, and not be offered the option to directly place it in my own reader - just get it.  Download FeedBurner FeedSmith

 

7. Google XML Sitemaps - Makes your blog more tasty for Google. Download Google XML Sitemaps

 

8. Whydowork Adsense - Insert Adsense code in your pages without modifying the template. Show different ads for articles older than 7 days (or as old as you wish). By Whydowork

 

9. Wordpress Automatic Upgrade - You know…or soon will…how often Matt Mullenweg and the other peeps at Wordpress like to updates.  It really isn’t all that fun to do - not hard, just tedious.  This plugin is awesome!  Makes it as easy as clicking a button - well, same button, but a few times - anyway, easy.  Download Wordpress Automatic Upgrade 

 

10. WP-cache - Basically…it will allow your blog to load faster - and the more stuff you got - the more you need this. Download WP-cache

If for some reason, you don’t like the Add to Any: Share/Save/Bookmark Button plugin, give this one a try. Download Sociable

WP-Sticky

Makes it easy to keep a post that you like at the top, you know, make it sticky.  Download WP-Sticky

Platinum SEO Pack

For those of you who can’t seem to get All in One SEO Pack to work because you keep getting a fatal error, this is another complete SEO solution for your Wordpress blog. Download Platinum SEO Pack

flickrRSS

Allows you to integrate the photos from a flickr rss feed into your site so everyone can see your pics of your cute little dogs or whatever else you want to put on there. Download flickr RSS
