Okay, these first steps are not a whole lot of fun, but it really is necessary no matter what kind of business you are getting into - online or offline. You need to get organized, and you need to get focused, and you need a plan.
So you think you can skip this step? ”This really is not that important as I can make adjustments along the way.” That is what you are thinking right? I suppose you might just want to jump in and start making money. After all, those e-mails you got today said that you’d be raking in the dough in just 3 hours if you joined their program - why waste time getting “organized?”
The reason you want to do this is that it will lay the groundwork, the foundation for you business and you will be determining whether or not you will succeed or fail. You see all sorts of numbers thrown around about how 99% or 98% of all online marketers fail. I don’t know where these numbers come from or how accurate they are, but I bet that they are at least somewhere in the ballpark. If I don’t know the exact numbers, how can I say that they are in the ballpark? Well, online marketing is hard! Most people are lazy, apathetic, whatever you want to call it, but most people will let their dreams slip by the side especially if there is “work” involved - and there will be work.
Laying out some sort of plan (and yes, it can and should evolve over time) will increase your odds of success. Especially if this plan is something that you feel is reasonable for your level of computer literacy, business acumen, or just your personal level of commitment. Your plan is something that you should print out and put somewhere that you will see it on a daily basis - maybe even print out a couple of copies. Keep one on the fridge, one next to your computer, maybe even one in your wallet.
Okay, okay, I am getting ahead of myself. I am going to boil this down to some simple, general steps. I am not going to give you all the details, you can figure those out yourself. By the way, if you cannot figure these things out, you are not going to make it in business. Sorry to be blunt, but if you are not willing to stretch your mind to figure things out, you are not cut out to run your own business, and that is okay, not everyone is. Just the realities of the world.
Over the next few installments, I will be going over organization, focus, and building a plan. You probably already know some of the things you need to start doing, so don’t wait for me, get going. I’ll see you in a few days.
