Benjamin K. Piilani is the current Chairman of the board and Chief Executive of American Holding Company Unified Technologies Group, Inc.
Ben Piilani was born June 04, 1980 in Centralia, Illinois and started his career in 1996 in the Telecommunications industry with VoIP technologies, while it was still yet in its infancy as a technology, with Unlimited Telecommunications he deployed a commercially viable, dial around VoIP system to compete in the Long Distance market. Due to the complete lack of residential high speed Internet access, Unlimited Telecommunications used the consumers existing telephone carrier’s network to allow people to make long distance calls. It was the first company to release, ” Flat-Rate” telecommunications service in the United States market.
Ben Piilani launched his first Internet based company “Internet Business Advertisement Directory in 1998. IBAD was a search engine that was able to identify the location of the user, and produce relevant, locally based results for the client and paid for by the advertiser. This allowed businesses looking to market online only to consumers that would benefit the business. Of course consumers were not driven to businesses that were out of their geographic location. This benefited the consumer as well as the advertising business. However IBAD eventually succumb to the market pressures of the big 3 “AOL, Yahoo, Google” era.
Piilani launched I-NET in 2001, a networking company, hardware, and software that operated under the trade names of “INS Communications” and “Piilani Computers”. I-NET catered to municipal, large commercial, health care, and educational projects for any software, IT related networking, ISP services, and equipment. I-NET’s core product was the Piilani Computer. Manufacturing ISO 9000 computers for its clientele. Through I-NET, Piilani was able to establish many big business relationships that are still considered part of his core background.
Piilani formed UTG, Unified Technologies Group, Inc. in 2003. He now currently resides as Chief Executive Officer of Unified Technologies Group, Inc. and Chairman, which acquired I-Net Solutions, Inc. in 2003, and is classified as a Conglomerate, with a vested interest in many areas of Technology and Communications from VoIP and IPTV to Mobile Applications, and content creation and distribution. In addition, Unified Technologies Group has vested interests in many other areas as well, including International Financial Services, Broadband over Power Lines, Alternative Energy Technologies, Manufacturing, and Real Estate. Unified Technologies Group has operations throughout the World in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Piilani resides as a Co-Chair NEMA’s Advanced Technology Committee and is an Executive Committee Member for the National Energy Marketers Association out of Washington D.C., and and was elected as Illinois Businessman of the year in 2004.
Ben Piilani has testified, in D.C., before many regulatory agencies, including the FCC, the Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission (“FERC”), and the Department of Energy (“DOE”) on behalf of regulatory issues involving different technologies, to help set regulatory precedence for nascent technologies while adding or changing current policies relating to existing technologies. Ben Piilani also has existing relationships within the European Union and Asia.
Piilani has many connections with fortune 500 companies, both domestically and internationally such as Rhode and Schwarz, Agilent Technologies, Advance Micro Devices (“AMD”) and Boeing, . In addition, his relationships extend internationally with IT, Manufacturing, Film, Television, Electric Utilities, Mobile Carriers, Commercial and Residential Developers, International Finance, and Internet Content creation and distribution.
Ben Piilani has focused on building the infrastructure needed to maintain fast growth as a company and on ensuring that quality remains high while product development cycle times are kept to a minimum. Along with the rest of the Piilani team, Ben shares responsibility for day-to-day operations. Ben Piilani has a royal lineage that can be tracked back to before King Kamehameha, to King Pi’ilani of Maui. Ben’s hobbies include storm chasing on a professional level, and developing new business relationships. He holds certifications from the National Weather Service, Atmospheric Administration and the National Association of Storm Chasers and Spotters, as well as belonging to a local Emergency Management Agency.
Ben Piilani’s newest business venture is being seen as a new mobile empire combining three companies Zero 1 Mobile, Global Verge and Buzzirk Mobile where he has brought unlimited VoIP and Internet to the mobile market. Said to release July 1st the service will allow unlimited mobile voice, Internet and G.P.S. plus more for a flat free of $79/month with no contracts. Along with the product release is a business opportunity for anyone to make money as a reseller. I for one can’t wait to see these new super phones!
